A City To Far, Day 01, 2/8/18

Departure day started out with such promise.  Montgomery to Atlanta to Paris to Athens.  I am writing this blog from London.  I just ordered fish and chips.  While in England, do as the British do.
The trip started out with bad storms passing through Montgomery and Atlanta.  Our Montgomery connection delayed from 2:00 pm to 3:37 pm.  Our Paris flight was cancelled due to weather.  Delta did give us 10,000 sky miles for our inconvenience and put us on a British Airways  to London.  We finally got out of Atlanta at 9:00 pm.  I sent Georgio, our driver in Greece, a message and told him we would not be in Athens at 2:00 pm, but arriving around 10:20 pm.  Georgio sent me a message back and said "Jeery, no problem, I see you then".

British Airways is a good way to travel.  I would use them again. When we got to London we had to leave a secure  area to get to Aegean Air.  Everything was going well up to this point.  Then we went through security.  Linda was first, no problem, I was second , no problem.  Harry, then Jake, then Amanda.  I am not saying they profiled here, but we hit a stumbling block with Emily.  The TSA lady was very rude to Emily.  She had her liquids in 3 clear bags.  The TSA lady started throwing her make up, perfume, and toothpaste in the trash.  It went from bad to worse at this point.  The TSA  supervisor, Harry, Amanda, and Jake all got involved.  It was finally determined that the first lady was out of bounds in the way she handled this situation.  The last I saw of Emily, she had on gloves, and was going through the discards to recover her perfume, makeup foundation, and toothpaste.  After about 20 minutes, this situation was resolved, apologies were given, and we moved on.

We went through passport control and checked in for our flight to Athens.  Harry, Amanda, Emily and Jake got their boarding pass and when it was time for Linda and me to get ours, we were not in the computer system.  We were told to wait until 3:30 pm to check in,, and they assured us it was a mistake and it would be cleared up then.

If we get on the flight to Greece I will report from Athens, if not I will report from London.  Wish us well.
